Asher Ben-Or is a guitarist living in New York City. Born and raised in Northern Manhattan, he has spent the past 20+ years with a guitar in hand honing different styles from jazz, blues, swing music and more. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in jazz guitar performance from CUNY and has studied with some of the greatest names in jazz including Peter Bernstein, Kenny Wessel, Ray Gallon, Mike Holober and others. He performs and teaches guitar lessons avidly in the NY metro area.
Asher works as a bandleader and sideman in several different bands including the Uptown Guitars (Django Reinhardt inspired jazz with original compositions), Crowd Funk, and more. Whether you’re looking for a swinging jazz band to get your guests dancing at your private event, or an intimate set of solo guitar music to set the mood, Asher has your musical needs covered. lessons
My guitar lessons are always tailored to the individual's specific needs. I'll create a lesson plan for you based on your experience level, goals, and most importantly your musical interests. My music lessons are always held in a judgement-free, supportive and friendly environment. First time guitar players, children, adults, advanced players, and everything in between are welcome! Whether you've never held a guitar in your hands and are looking to start from scratch, or you're an advanced guitarist looking to hone your technique, or looking to sing and play your favorite songs, I can help you make it happen.
Lessons are held in my apartment in upper Manhattan, or in your home for an additional fee.
$80 per hour (lessons in your home available for an additional charge).
